Comparison
MacDuty vs Unihost
Comparing MacDuty and Unihost for a dedicated Mac mini: the price of the three Macs both sell, day billing against monthly, and where each host is better.
Updated 2026-10-16
Unihost is a long-established dedicated server host, trading since 2001, with machines in Germany, the Netherlands, France, the UK, the United States, Singapore and Hong Kong. Mac minis are one line in a very wide catalogue. We only sell Mac minis. That difference shows up in the price.
Prices exclude VAT on both sides. Unihost's Macs are in the Netherlands; ours are racked in Romania.
The price for the same Mac
Unihost's prices read from its site on 13 October 2026; ours are the catalog's as it stands today. Monthly, in euro, excluding VAT.
| Mac mini | MacDuty, monthly | Unihost, monthly | MacDuty, paid yearly | MacDuty against Unihost, monthly |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| M2, 8 GB, 256 GB | €75 | 106.90 EUR, discounted from 122.27 | €60 | -30% |
| M6, 16 GB, 256 GB | €128 | 213.90 EUR | €102 | -40% |
| M5 Pro, 24 GB, 512 GB | €189 | 335.90 EUR | €151 | -44% |
The last column is the gap on each Mac, and there is no configuration difference hiding in it: same chip, same memory, same disk. Paid yearly, ours drop further; their page lists one monthly price.
Unihost also lists an M5 Max with 36 GB and 512 GB at 399.90 EUR a month. We do not rack the M5 Max; if that is the machine you need, they have it and we do not.
Neither of us charges a setup fee.

Where Unihost is genuinely better
- Twenty-five years of trading. We are a new host. If the thing that worries you is whether your supplier will still exist in three years, theirs is the longer record by a wide margin, and that is a fair thing to weigh.
- They have the M5 Max. We do not rack it.
- One supplier for everything. If you also need AMD EPYC machines, GPU servers, storage boxes or a server in Singapore, Unihost sells all of it and we sell Mac minis. Consolidating suppliers has real value, and we cannot offer it.
- Billing in pounds, if your accounting prefers it. We invoice in euro or US dollars.
- Locations outside the EU. If you need a machine close to users in the United States or Asia, they have data centres there.
Where MacDuty is better
- Price, on every Mac both of us sell. The table above has the gap on each one, and there is no configuration difference hiding in it: same chip, same memory, same disk.
- Seven generations. The M1, M2, M2 Pro, M4, M4 Pro, M5 Pro and M6 are in our catalog, the two 2026 Macs with the date they ship; the cheapest is the M1, and its price is on its card. Their Mac line is four machines.
- Billing by the day. The day price of every build is on its card, and the M6's is in the table above. Their shortest term is a month.
- A restart from your account at any hour, without a ticket, and a password reset and SSH keys from the same page; a Mac that stops answering is powered off and on at its rack outlet by us, at any hour, when you write in.
- Mac minis are the whole business. Theirs is one line among dozens. Whether that matters depends on how much you value a supplier who has nothing else to think about.
A word about stock
Our catalogue shows availability live. A configuration marked ready is racked, charged at checkout and goes out on order. A pre-order of a box Apple has not shipped is held with nothing charged until it is racked; for the rest, the way in is the notify list.
Check Unihost's own availability before you decide anything on this page.
Moving from Unihost
Nothing proprietary to unpick: root, SSH, and a physical Mac on both sides. Carry over your Xcode installation, keychain and signing certificates, SPM and CocoaPods caches, and your runner registration.
What to check first. Any of these three is a reason to stay:
- Whether you need a location outside the EU.
- Whether you are consolidating other servers with the same supplier.
- Whether you are on the M5 Max.
- Connect to your Mac, how you reach the machine on our side
- Self-hosted GitHub Actions runner on a Mac mini, if the runner is being registered from scratch
